This dataset contains the following structural traits for the two moss species Rhytidiadelphus loreus (Hedw.) Warnst. and Thuidium tamariscinum (Hedw.) Schimp.: shoot number, shoot length (sheet "shoots"), branch number, branch length (sheet "branches"), leaf number, leaf area (sheet "leaf area"), cushion height (sheet "cushion height"), and ramification index (sheet "ramification index"). Furthermore, the maximum water storage capacity was measured for both moss species (sheet " water storage capacity"). The last sheet includes data for sediment discharge, surface runoff and water percolation produced during rainfall simulations with infiltration boxes that were filled with undisturbed soil samples of three treatments (covered by R. loreus, covered by T. tamariscinum, bare soil).
