This research aims to assess the validity of the primary coverage indicator for malaria treatment collected from interviews with mothers/caregivers. Specifically, the study aims to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of the recollections of the fact that the child was treated with ACT. A prospective case-control approach was be used to achieve these objectives. This study took place in the Region of Sikasso and the District of Bamako, Mali. It covered two urban public facilities, two urban private facilities, two rural public facilities and 6 to 8 community health workers (CHW) linked with the two rural facilities. The target population was mothers/caregivers of children under five years presenting with suspected malaria fevers at selected study site health facilities / community health workers.
