资源简介:
These data are associated with the manuscript "Direct seeding and transplants in artificial structures have variable outcomes in multi-species temperate saltmarsh rehabilitation". BESE-elements was used in combination with direct seeding and core transplantation of saltmarsh species in temperate Australia (Melbourne, Victoria). Over 2 years through 3 methodological experiments, we monitored species cover and colour, as well as sediment accumulation (within BESE-elements only). Experiment 1 tested core transplants. Experiment 2 tested direct seeding with only Salicornia quinqueflora (no germination/data). Experiment 3 tested direct seeding with a mix of up to 7 local saltmarsh species. Monitoring occurred every 3 months since deployment unless the plot or site as lost. We also monitored natural recruitment and control areas without intervention across all experiments. The research demonstrates that BESE-Elements can support active saltmarsh revegetation, but results are site-, method- and species-dependent.
Treatments: Bare_b = bare soil, no intervention; Bare_s = directly seeded without BESE-elements; Bare_t = Salicornia quinqueflora plant/soil transplants; BESE_b = BESE-elements only; BESE_s = directly seeded with BESE-elements; BESE_t = BESE-elements with Salicornia quinqueflora plant/soil transplants. Site abbreviation: Altona Coastal Park = ACP.
