Fictibacillus phosphorivorans is a algicidal bacteria isolate from lake of Uttarakhand. M. aeruginosa is a toxic bloom forming algae, which can cause the mass mortality of fish by various mechanisms. Fictibacillus phosphorivorans can lyse the M. aeruginosa blue green algae in 5-7 days under experimental conditions. Its strong Microcystis-lysing activity probably related to damage of cell membranes and is potentially useful for regulating blooms of harmful M. aeruginosa.
