FHWA Reduced Urban/Rural Dataset

Project Description The NDS Urban/Rural data set was developed to generate additional trip summary measures data based on whether a road traversed during the SHRP2 NDS was considered urban or rural. To remain consistent with other SHRP2 NDS data sources, the link representation was used for the supplemental speed limit data set. The links layer provided with the RID facilitated the mapping of the LRS road segments to the link road segments format. Data Request Scope The Urban/Rural data set is comprised of two data sets: Additional Trip Summary Measures and Distributions by Site. Data Specification Each row of the Additional Trip Summary Measures data set represents a trip in the SHRP2 NDS database. For each trip, 16 additional data measures were added to the existing Trip Summary Measures table. Details can be found in the accompanying documetation. Each row of the Distributions by Site data set represents one of the six sites where SHRP2 NDS data was collected. For each site, 28 distributions of speed, duration, and distance were calculated.
