Rental listings

The extract lists all Craigslist listings and their details beginning August 2020 in North Carolina sorted by counties. Raw data is created by scraping all North Carolina rental listings on Craigslist daily. The information extracted include date of listing, title, location, price, number of bedrooms, and square footage. The listings are sorted by counties. We scraped information such as date, title, location, price, and description of listing as character strings from Craigslist. Number of bedrooms and square footage were extracted as numeric values from the character strings. Location in geocoordinates were geocoded to counties. The **total** level of rental listings are total number of listings in a week in a county for a given Monday-Sunday week (aggregating to Mondays). To normalize the **rate** of listings given the significant variability in number of housing units across NC counties, we divided the total listings per county by the number of housing units in the county as given by the American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates, and multiplied by 1000.
