Democratic Erosion Event Dataset (DEED) v7

The Democratic Erosion Event Dataset tracks democratic backsliding and authoritarian consolidation around the world, with coverage of over 135 countries between 2000 and 2023. Monthly events that reflect precursors to, symptoms of and resistance to democratic erosion are classified into an analytical framework alongside brief narrative descriptions of the event. Actors and targets for each event are also coded.
