Landscapes in North Rhine-Westphalia

The data set Landscape Areas in North Rhine-Westphalia contains regional spatial data on biogeographical regions within the meaning of the INSPIRE Annex III topic “Biogeographical Regions”. The data show the seamless boundaries of so-called landscape spaces, which are a clarification and thematic addition to natural spatial units (see Schmidthüsen et al.). The object metadata contains information about the landscape ecology characteristics that characterise the areas. The data show the boundaries of the landscape areas for North Rhine-Westphalia. Special features: The data is freely accessible. The data is collected as a basis for the creation of the nationwide biotope network and digitised for these purposes. The data must be made public on the Internet in North Rhine-Westphalia on the basis of § 3 of the Land Nature Protection Act.
