High water events data

The dataset contains time series of total water levels at 12 beaches around the globe. It was obtained using the empirical formulation by Stockton et al (2006, 2014) from publicly available wave and tidal data, as well as digital elevation models. For sites in the US, tidal levels were downloaded from the Tides and Currents database (https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/ - NOAA) and wave data from the National Data Buoy Center ((https://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/ - NOAA). Tides and waves datasets for Australia were obtained from the Coastal Data System of Queensland (https://www.data.qld.gov.au/dataset/) and for Italy from the European Marine Observation and Data Network (https://www.emodnet-physics.eu/)
