York University Grassland and Woodlot Field Training with Animals

The methods of this experiment were fairly simple. A 1 metre by 1 metre quadrat was used, and placed on the ground at random in different parts of a York University grassland, as well as a York University woodlot. Ten replicates were done in the grassland and another ten replicates were done in the woodlot. Within the quadrat, I counted the total number of all insects which were present inside the quadrat lines at the time of counting. The total number of insects was recorded, as well as the total number of different taxonomic units or orders which were observed within the quadrat, and the types of taxonomic units or orders, as well as the number of total insects within these classified groups. This information was recorded for the ten replicates in the grassland, as well as the ten replicates in the woodlot.
