Ciliate abundance and biomass in water samples collected at Station MAY-1997-IR58 in the Aegean Sea@en

For sample preservation borax-buffered formalin (final concentration 2% formaldehyde) has been used. Samples were stored at 4°C in the dark until observation. 100 ml samples have been transferred into Utermohl chambers for settling during 24 hours and finally examined by means of an inverted microscope. Ciliate cell sizes were measured and converted into cell volumes using appropriate geometric formulae (Peuto-Moreau, 1991). For biomass estimation the conversion factor 140 fgC µm^-3 (Putt and Stoecker, 1989) has been used.样本保存采用硼酸盐缓冲福尔马林（甲醛终浓度为2%）。样本于4℃避光储存，直至开展观测。将100毫升样本转移至乌特莫尔沉降室（Utermohl chambers）中静置24小时，随后通过倒置显微镜进行观察。纤毛虫细胞尺寸经测量后，采用适配的几何公式换算为细胞体积（Peuto-Moreau，1991）。生物量估算采用转换系数140 fgC·μm⁻³（Putt与Stoecker，1989）。
