National land cover data: base layer

National Land Cover Data (NMD) is a comprehensive mapping of Sweden. The aim is to get basic information about the landscape and how it is changing. The first mapping was carried out 2017-February 2019 and is called NMD2018, the latest version is NMD2023 and the plan is to update the data every 5 years. NMD consists of a base mapping in with a number of thematic classes in hierarchical levels. The mapping is in raster format with 10 meters resolution and with a minimum mapping unit down to 0.01 hectares. In addition to the base mapping, the following additional layers are included: - object height and coverage - productivity (forest productivity) -land use - low mountain forest (only for NMD2018, subsequently included in the base layer) Separate metadata descriptions and download services are available for the add-on layers. For all datasets, product descriptions are available.
