In 2022, the first 136724 applications were registered in Single Asylum Application Units (GUDAs), up 31.0 %, returning to a level close to that of pre-crisis. Afghanistan remains the first country of origin for first-time asylum seekers in GUDA. Up almost 40 %, Afghan demand accounted for 16.5 % of the total in 2022. Growth was even stronger for Bangladesh (+ 69.3 %), in second place. Türkiye and Georgia then come, almost doubling their 2021 level. Ofpra registered 131254 asylum applications (+ 27.2 %) and took 134513 decisions (-3.8 %) continuing to destock files filed in previous years. The CNDA did the same, with 61552 appeals received and 67142 decisions. The number of people granted protection (Ofpra and CNDA) is on a limited increase (+ 3.5 %) and reached 56276 in 2022. The synthetic protection rate (Ofpra and CNDA) rose slightly, to 41.4 % from 39.2 % last year.
