Detailed fitness and survival. Here, through fitness and survival outputs in wild-type and immune-compromised Drosophila melanogaster, we test whether the sexes are differentially impacted by bacterial infection and identify a critical regulator of this difference, PGRP-LB, a negative regulation of the humoral immune pathway IMD. We find that the sexes exhibit differential survival but similar bacteria-derived metabolic pathology.
