The strain isolated from acidic soils of Armenia was preliminary classified as Bacillus acidophilus. On the base of 16S rRNA gene sequence we identified it as B. subtilis MDC3500 strain.The 16S rRNA gene sequence of the B. subtilis MDC3500 strain (GenBank accession number MT534524) demonstrates 99% identity to the corresponding gene sequence of the Bacillus sp. KBS0812 strain, with complete genome sequence (GenBank accession number CP041757.1). The primer pair synthesized based on the alpha-amylase gene of the Bacillus sp. KBS0812 strain was able to produce functional acidic alpha-amylase of B. subtilis MDC3500 (amy3500). The amy3500 gene sequence (GenBank accession number OK490393) exhibits 98% identity, with three nucleotide gaps and a difference of 45 nucleotides compared to the alpha-amylase gene of Bacillus sp. KBS0812, according to sequence alignment using the NCBI nucleotide BLAST tool. In contrast, the amino acid sequence of Amy3500 (UUZ04253.1) is 98% identical, with 99% positives and 1 gap, to the corresponding amino acid sequence of the alpha-amylase from Bacillus sp. KBS0812.In this genome submission, we are providing the full genome sequence, which consists of one chromosome with 4,088,917 nucleotides (concatenated from five contigs) and one plasmid with 60,540 nucleotides.
