资源简介:
This data set contains the vertebrate and molluscan remains excavated in 1984 from the Main Trench, and processed with 1/4" water-screening. The Main Trench, which is located within the Main Shelter area of Modoc, includes Units A, B, I, C, and E. 1984 excavations were funded by the National Science Foundation.
Vertebrate remains were identified by Mona Colburn using the Osteological Collections of the Illinois State Museum; and checked by Dr. Bonnie Styles.
Bivalves were identified by Dr. Bonnie Styles and verified by Dr. Bob Warren. In general, preservation of bivalves was very good, with the nacre still shiny on unburned valves and fragments. Valves that are burned gray, dark gray, or black have a slightly weathered appearance.
Faunal remains from three other areas that were excavated in 1984 are in separate datasets; those areas are:
1) West Pillar (Unit F)
2) East Pillar (Units G, H, and J
3) Unit D
