WC, HG and Sugar denote, respectively, the Watson-Crick, Hoogsteen and sugar edges of the nucleotides involved in the formation of hydrogen bonds. The asterisk means that it was impossible to assign the edge uniquely which happens if only one hydrogen bond is formed between the bases and involves the hydrogen positioned at the “corner” of the edges.
