Whole genome sequencing and assembly of Pathogenic Leptospira strains from India

Leptospira is a heterogeneous group of spirochetes, which are genetically distinct from other bacteria. We have sequenced and assembled 3 pathogenic species of Leptospira (interrogans, santarosai and kirschneri) from India. These species are the most abundant and highly pathogenic Leptospira. Whole genome sequencing of new isolates is of great importance for further understanding the leptospirosis pathogenesis.
