Genomic characterization of potential probiotic Limosilactobacillus fermentum BGITE12 isolated from the gastrointestinal tract of Apis mellifera intermissa

Among isolates exhibiting the most interesting properties that characterize a probiotic bacterium, Limosilactobacillus fermentum BGITE12 showed the best desirable properties (lysozyme resistance, acid and bile tolerance, antibacterial activity, bile salt hydrolase activity, absence of mucin degradation and hemolytic activity, inability to produce gelatinase, antidiabetic and beta-galactosidase activities, adhesion to intestinal epithelium, starter in milk fermentation), making it potentially good candidate for use as probiotic, in food biopreservation, food and feed fermentation.
