MolluscaFW: World Checklist of Freshwater Mollusca in the Catalogue of Life

The World Checklist of Freshwater Mollusca project was first established at the National Museum & Galleries of Wales in 2004. It was compiled from a variety of published sources, as well as reviewing Zoological Record for newly described species. The checklist now contains 6,500 species with names considered valid, and a total of 10,500 names in all. All of the taxonomic reviewers through 2007-2008 are thanked for their assistance in producing this checklist. MolluscaFW supplies only gastropods in the Catalogue of Life. MolluscaFW contributes freshwater taxa in the CoL proto-GSD.
