Photographic portrait of three Cheyenne chiefs and an interpreter visiting Colonel Oelrichs at Oelrichs, Dakota, July 4, 1887. The three Indian chiefs are at right and are identified as Chief Standing Elk, Chief Running Hog, and Chief Little Wolf. Standing Elk is wearing a large feather headdress, and all three are dressed in traditional plains Indian clothes. The interpreter, also identified as Standing Elk, is at far left and is an Indian wearing Western clothes. Colonel Olerichs is at center and is dressed in civilian clothes. All of the Indians are carrying carbines. There is a wooden building in the background.
