The Impact of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth on the Efficacy of Fecal Microbiota Transplantation in Patients with Chronic Constipation

To investigate the impact of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) on the efficacy of Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) in patients with chronic constipation. Inclusion of 218 chronic constipation patients treated with FMT, divided into constipation with SIBO group (SIBO) based on breath test results for SIBO, and constipation without SIBO group (Non-SIBO). The efficacy of the two groups was evaluated using constipation-related scoring scales. At the same time, feces and small intestinal fluid samples were collected from both groups before and after FMT to compare the changes in the intestinal microbiota through 16S rRNA sequencing.
