The First Virome of Russian Vineyard

More than 80 viruses are infecting grapevine. The aim of this project is to study the biodiversity of viruses in ampelocenoses using metagenomics methods. Studies were conducted on samples taken from vineyards of the Krasnodar region in Russia from plants with symptoms of viral infection. Small RNA was used for library preparation and high-throughput sequencing. Six grapevine viruses and two viroids were found by bioinformatics methods and validated by RT-PCR.
