Microphytobenthos and benthic diatom, Pleurosigma strigosum, photophysiological data

This dataset brings together long-term in situ monitoring of subtidal microphytobenthos (MPB) at Lanvéoc (Bay of Brest, Brittany, France) and controlled laboratory experiments conducted on the benthic diatom Pleurosigma strigosum isolated from this environment. 
Field data collected between 2019 and 2025 document the physical, biological and photophysiological characteristics of MPB at the sediment surface. Complementary culture experiments were designed to investigate the acclimation of P. strigosum under a green-blue light spectrum representative of subtidal conditions. Cultures were grown across six irradiance levels spanning the seasonal light range.
Together, these datasets provide an integrated framework linking natural MPB dynamics with species-specific photophysiological responses to light, offering a valuable resource for studies on benthic primary productivity and photoacclimation in coastal sediments.
