BIG013 - Biga - Conversational questionnaire (Dialogue F, 'Lifting stones'); morphosyntactic data; pronominal and verbal/adjectival subject-marking paradigms

This dataset contains a dialogue elicited using the Conversational Questionnaire method (François 2019, 'A proposal for conversational questionnaires') and elicited morphosyntactic data (including pronominal and verbal/adjectival paradigms) for Biga with Semuel Mandurun (born 1970), a native speaker of Biga. The dialogue was Dialogue F ('Lifting stones'). The object pronominal paradigm and the paradigm for the adjective/verb 'to be tall' were elicited. Other elicited morphosyntactic information includes mode particles; the function of 'to want'; and checks on animacy distinctions. The session was recorded on 2 January 2020, in Biga village (Misool island, Raja Ampat regency, Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). Note that the handwritten ID code 'BAT013' in the Fieldnotes is incorrect; these Fieldnotes are associated with this item, BIG013. This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19\100004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a British Academy Small Grant (SG1920\100342).
