RNA sequencing reveals distinct immune responses in the chorioamniotic membranes of women with preterm labor and microbial or sterile intra-amniotic inflammation

Chorioamniotic membrane samples were profiled using paired-end Illumina RNAseq to evaluate transcriptomic changes in these tissues associated with the inflammatory status of the amniotic cavity. Overall design: The study included women with intact membranes who underwent spontaneous preterm labor and birth without intra-amniotic inflammation (PTL, n = 12), with sterile intra-amniotic inflammation (PTL_SIAI, n = 17), and with intra-amniotic infection (PTL_IAI, n = 11).
