Starting from an origin, a transect was decided using a random sampling method. Our group performed a research this October the 5th
2016 in the forest on the northeast side of NECC in the Haverhill campus, we
chose the aster flower plant. We all picked different plants of the same
species and counted all of their leaves and flowers. We made sure that we
recorded the height of the plant, the distance from the point of origin and how
crowded they were individually. The aster plant grows natively in North America
which made it a really good pick for the group to study. The scientific name of
our plant is Aster divaricatus (Eurybia divaricata), white wood aster. The idea
is to analyze and study the interactions among our plant and the environment in
which it’s currently found. We focused on the life processes, interactions, and
adaptations of the aster and the abundance and distribution of the same.
