2022 Michoacan Earthquake GEER Reconnaissance

A seismic event of moment magnitude M7.7 (SSN, 2022) in Michoacan, Mexico, struck the central region of Mexico on September 19, 2022, at 13:05:09 hours (18:05:09 GMT), almost an hour after a national earthquake drill was carried out to prepare for catastrophic events and commemorate the 1985 and 2017 earthquakes. A research team consisting of graduate students and faculty from the National Autonomous University of México (UNAM), and professional of Lettis Consultants International, Inc, performed a preliminary field investigation of seismic geotechnical issues under the sponsorship of the Institute of Engineering of UNAM (IIUNAM), National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Geotechnical Extreme Events Reconnaissance Association (GEER).
