Exploring Telemedicine User Experience Among Middle-Aged Users: A Qualitative Study

The rapid expansion of telemedicine has transformed healthcare delivery in Indonesia, yet the user experience of middle-aged adults remains underexplored. This study aims to investigate the telemedicine user experience among individuals aged 44 to 60 years in Indonesia. Utilizing a qualitative exploratory design, semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with ten participants who had prior experience using digital health platforms. A data-driven thematic analysis was applied to the interview transcripts. The findings reveal five primary themes characterizing the middle-aged user experience: user interaction and usability, perceived benefits, system trust, application feature usage, and barriers and challenges. While users highly value the time efficiency and convenience offered by these platforms, they frequently encounter technical issues, interface confusion, and persistent concerns regarding data security and remote diagnostic accuracy. The results emphasize the critical need for more intuitive application designs and robust data protection frameworks tailored to this demographic. These improvements are essential to foster long-term trust and sustain the adoption of telemedicine services among middle-aged populations
