Complete mitochondrial genomes of the Perilla leaf moth, <i>Pyrausta phoenicealis</i> (Hübner, 1818) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae)

The Perilla Leaf Moth, Pyrausta phoenicealis (Hübner, 1818), is a polyphagous pest often confused with P. panopealis due to morphological similarity. Here, we report the complete 15,281-bp mitochondrial genome of P. phoenicealis, comprising 37 genes and one A + T-rich region. The genome exhibits typical Lepidopteran features, with a trnM-trnI-trnQ arrangement and a CGA start codon for COI. Among Pyraustinae, srRNA, ND4, and COI were the most conserved genes. Phylogenetic analyses confirmed the monophyly of Pyrausta with strong support. This mitochondrial genome will serve as a valuable reference for future genetic and evolutionary studies.
