The sequencing results showed that there were 23801 differentially expressed Unigenes ( up-regulated in 19758 and down-regulated in 4043 ) in cjYB1Z4 compared with the control BMZ. The up-regulated Unigenes were mainly enriched in isoflavone biosynthesis, flavonoid biosynthesis, biosynthesis of semiterpenoids and triterpenes. A total of 50 differential Unigenes related to sesquiterpene synthesis were found, encoding 7 key enzymes in the MVA pathway, 7 key enzymes in the MEP pathway, and 7 terpene synthases. Based on the co-expression network, it was inferred that transcription factors such as WRKY33, ABF, and WRKY2 may play an important regulatory role in the formation of agarwood sesquiterpenes.
