English translation (by Rita Seng Mai) Once upon a time, there was a flock of crows which lived near a village in a deep forest. In that village, there was a guard who guarded a big field in which rice was grown too. That flock of crows came to the field every day and ate those grains till they were full while that guard was taking a nap in the afternoon. Then, they flew back to their place. What was unusual was that there was one crow which was already full but it also took lots of grains with its beak and feet every day. When that guard saw that strange crow, he thought that may be that crow wanted to keep some food for rainy season, or not it wanted to do something. But that strange crow came every day, perhaps it was afraid to get hungry. The guard couldn't stop thinking what the reason was. One day, that crow was ensnared in a trap by its leg. Then, it was thinking if I shout, all of my friends would run away and they wouldn't be full. It was just keeping eating like nothing happened as it was worried about that and didn't shout. It was waiting for the time when all of its friends would be full. It shouted "Help me!" at the right time when its friends were full and all of its friends flew away. All of the crows flew away since they were afraid. Then, the guard came and took that strange crow by tying its leg with a string with the thought of getting the crow that ate a lot. And he told to the owner of the field about that. He told that "this crow ate lots of grains till it was full, not only that it also took lots of grains with its beakful and its feet. I don't know why it took lots of grains. But I've caught this one and I will ask it why." When he asked, that crow answered that "I have three reasons why I took lots. The first reason why I took is that I gave grains to many little crows which couldn't find their food yet. The second reason is that I have my parents who raise and nurture me since I was young so that I have to look after them and give some grains to them. The last reason is that there are old crows which couldn't find their food anymore in one village. I give some to them so that I took lots." The guard and the owner said, "Umm, you're different from the others. You're kind-hearted. So I will give this field to you. This is yours. You can come and eat anytime you want. You can call all of your friends including nestlings and eat as much as you can. I won't catch you anymore." Then, they came to eat in that field happily. At last, that flock of crows lived happily by having plenty of food and without having any worries for being starve.
