Geochemistry characteristics and tectonic significance of the ‘ “mafic” S-type granites’

Taking account of their importance in inferring continental geodynamic processes, S-type granites have been the subject of considerable research since their discovery and identification. With their high A/CNK (Mol. Al2O3/(Na2O + K2O + CaO) > 1.1) and low Na2O (T contents (generally with maficity T up to 12 wt.% and lower silica (SiO2 404 reference ST granite samples were obtained after screening. L-MSMST granites are inconsistent with the originally defined ST granite. Schematic models may explain the formation of HSNMST and L-MSMST granites. L-MSMST granites may form in a typical extensional tectonic setting.
