Glycine-Based Therapy for NAFLD

The prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and resulting steatohepatitis (NASH) is increasing worldwide with no pharmacological therapy approved. Lower circulating glycine is consistently reported in NAFLD patients, but a causative role of glycine and a therapeutic use remain unclear. We applied genetic and dietary strategies to study glycine metabolism in NAFLD and developed glycine-based therapy.
