From a study examining the transcriptome of the tentacles of Oulactis sp., a cold temperate Australian endemic sea anemone, a toxin with two isoforms was identified. The isoforms had a homology to the ShK-like protein family, which have the ability to block Kv1 ion channels. These two isoforms were selected to be structurally resolved by NMR and have bioactivity assays conducted.
