SARS-CoV-2-an elevated risk of CHDs in offspring following SARS-CoV-2 infection before and during organogenesis

SARS-CoV-2 induces inappropriate immune response for hindering embryo implantation. Consistent with published research, our clinical data indicate an elevated risk of CHDs in offspring following SARS-CoV-2 infection before and during organogenesis. This downregulation is implicated in the disruption of serotonin (5-HT) signaling pathways, which may underlie the pathogenesis of congenital heart disease.
