We sampled the signal crayfish individuals at four locations along its invasion range in the Korana River, including upstream and downstream invasion cores and invasion fronts. Hepatopancreas samples were randomly collected from 25 individuals from each site and pooled before RNA isolation. We sequenced and analyzed signal crayfish samples to: (1) identify putative viral sequences in the pools of signal crayfish hepatopancreas , (2) describe the phylogenetic relationships of the novel putative viral sequences obtained and (3) elucidate the potential differences in viral composition and abundance along the invasion range.
