Survey Report For IAGP Work At Casey, 1984
A report on the survey and navigational support for the International Antarctic Glaciological Project (IAGP) provided by the Division of National Mapping. Includes detailed surveying results from the four traverses carried out, and precise details of the cane locations. The document indicates that the following work was carried out:1) Carry out a gravity survey on strain grids SGA, SGP, SGB, SGQ, SGR and SGD.2) Using helicopter mounted ice radar, extend the detailed radio-echo sounding of the Vanderford Glacier from the 1982/1983 summer programme to cover the remainder of the glacier. Surface measurements of gravity and barometric elevation to be made along the major radar flight lines.3) Glacier movement survey to be made near Naupt Nunataks with measurements at markers at the beginning and end of the season.4) The location of several islands to be determined by DME equipment or JMR Doppler satellite equipment. At least one of Hatch Islands or Ivanhoe Head to be determined and a section of coastline on the northern part of Law Dome to be determined.5) Two different types of mechanical coring drills to be tested on the ice sheet inland from Casey.6) Re-survey of the 1978 and 1979 traverse line to about 74 degrees S latitude. A secondary objective is the continuation of the surveys on the Law Some east of Casey.7) A preparatory traverse, the aim of which is to dump fuel in the region of V150 and V250, 400-500km inland from Casey in support of the spring traverse and to carry out a full measurement programme along the route to check all equipment and techniques.8) Traverses will be restricted to the Law Dome with the main aim of extending the marker network on the eastern side of Law Dome and to establish new markers in the south western quadrant.9) Traverse to re-measure the 1978 and 1979 line of markers. Excess fuel following the re-survey of the southern route should be dumped at BO29 to assist the 1985 program which will re-survey the western route.10) Three automatic weather stations will be supplied for installation along the traverse route. One station is to be deployed during the autumn traverse, south of Casey at A028. The other two stations are to be deployed during the spring/summer traverse at GC41 and GC46.11) A cooperative programme with a Chinese glaciologist will investigate accumulation, metamorphisms and densifications of snow on Law Dome.12) Observations of sea ice thickness at Casey.13) Magnetic declination observations to be made along the southern traverse. Bureau of Mineral Resources will supply equipment to be used. This document has been scanned and is available for download from the provided URL. 本次数据集下载包含以下文件:《1984年凯西站IAGP工作勘测报告》(Survey Report For IAGP Work At Casey 1984.pdf)
