Sabkha Hypersaline Microbial Community

The importance of this study is that it is the first in-situ geobiological study of dolomite forming sabkhas. Currently no studies have approached both the geochemical and microbial aspect of low temperature dolomite precipitation. This study provides new information on how each aspect drives low-temperature dolomite precipitation. Understanding both the microbial community and geochemical conditions that this process in modern environments is a key starting point for the interpretation of massive primary dolomite in ancient geological sequences.
