The aim of this study is to investigate the single and compound toxic effects of polystyrene (nano)microplastics(M/NPs) and B[a]P exposure on cell proliferation, oxidative stress, gene expression, and gut microbiota during the intestinal regeneration process of sea cucumbers. The effects of different particle sizes of microplastics and B[a]P on differentially expressed genes and microbiota in the regenerated gut of sea cucumbers are compared, providing valuable information for understanding the biological toxicity mechanisms of marine benthic invertebrates in response to common environmental pollution.
