Sequencing of 16S ribosomal DNA from colonic crypts and mucosa of Colon cancer patients

Due to the huge number of bacteria colonizing the human colon, bacteria are highly suspected to be involved in colorectal cancer (CRC) oncogenesis. Using 16S ribosomal DNA from colonic crypts and mucosa provided from CRC patiens and healthy peaople we show that bacteria are colonizing human colonic crypts from both healthy and cancerous subjects. Among these bacteria, no-fermentative Proteobacteria, previously identified as crypt-specific core microbiota in murine colonic samples, were also found in human colonic crypts. We also shown that bacteria composition identified in the crypts from right-sided cancerous colon differ from that of left-sided.
