Microbiome of Hatiba Hydrothermal Vent Fields: Metagenomic, Metabarcoding and Isolates

This study aims to investigate the microbial diversity and functional potentials of the Hatiba Red Sea hydrothermal vents. The samples are collected from sediments, microbial mats, and crusts at hydrothermal vents in Hatiba, Red Sea, Saudi Arabia. The samples are taken from the Red Sea low-temperature hydrothermal vent fields: Farwah Safraa Reidges, Majarrah, Bajaah, Beacon, and Kabir. We used 16s RNA sequencing Shotgun metagenomic sequencing to reveal the microbiome of the newly discovered hydrothermal vents. We also performed traditional cultivation to isolate biotechnology-relevant bacteria.
