Sequencing of Pycnococcus provasolii genome

Pycnococcus provasolii is a picoplanktonic prasinophyte and lives under various light conditions. The cell is a coccoid and 3-5 ?m in size. This project is performed to understand genetic backgrounds on light adaptation of P. provasolii. In this project, we used an axenic P. provasolii strain NIES-2893, which was isolated from the western subarctic Pacific Ocean. Metagenomic analyses suggest abundance of this species in this region. The genome was sequenced using illumina MiSeq and Nanopore MinION sequencers by Synthetic Genomics Research Group of RIKEN and National Institute for Environmental Studies. Series of RNA-seqs were also performed and we analyzed differential gene expression analyses.
