Two novel three-dimensional frameworks Cu2(CDC)2(4,4‘-Bipy)·0.5H2CDC·1.25H2O (1) and Cu4(CDC)4(4,4‘-Bpe) (2) (CDC
= trans-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate; 4,4‘-Bipy = 4,4‘-bipyridine; 4,4‘-Bpe = trans-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene) have been synthesized and
structurally rationalized to have doubly interpenetrating elongated primitive cubic (α-Po) nets based on a binuclear paddle-wheel motif and
its enlarged dimer, respectively. Framework 1 shows one-dimensional pores filled with trans-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acids, while
framework 2 is a condensed structure because of the enlarged building block.
