Water protection zones in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen

Water protection zones serve the targeted local protection of drinking water against bacterial loads and special hazards and generally consist of the capping area, the narrower and the further protection zones to which certain restrictions and prohibitions apply. The zones, the size of which are based on geological and hydrological conditions, are determined in each individual case, taking into account the different local conditions, by experts of the water authorities and, in principle, cover the entire water catchment area of a drinking water extraction plant.
