Data of "Cooperation as a Sexual Selection Trait: Insights from Gender-Specific Mate Preferences"

This study investigated whether cooperation enhances an individual's attractiveness during sexual selection. In the first study, 199 participants were randomly allocated to one of the three different levels of cooperation. The results demonstrated that female participants preferred men who demonstrated less cooperation. In the second study, the influence of cooperation was assessed in conjunction with the gender of individuals involved in cooperation. Half of the targets cooperated with same-gender individuals, while the other half cooperated with individuals of the opposite gender. 230 participants watched a video of these scenarios and responded to 12 questions that evaluated the target as a potential partner.
