Laser disdrometer - ld

A laser disdrometer (LDIS) measures the drop size spectra and fall velocity of hydrometeors during precipitation events. The passage of hydrometeors through a horizontal area positioned between an eye-safe laser and an array detector results in blockage of the laser beam in proportion to the size of the drop or particle. In addition to drop/particle size and fall speed, precipitation type is classified. \n \nARM also deploys video disdrometers (VDIS).激光雨滴谱仪（laser disdrometer, LDIS）可在降水过程中测定水成物的雨滴粒径谱与下落速度。当水成物穿过护眼级激光器与阵列探测器之间的水平探测区域时，激光束的遮挡程度与水滴或粒子的尺寸呈正比关系。除水滴/粒子尺寸及下落速度外，该设备还可对降水类型进行分类识别。大气辐射测量（Atmospheric Radiation Measurement, ARM）项目还部署了视频雨滴谱仪（video disdrometers, VDIS）。
