Data from W-2 and W-4 well in the Lower Congo Basin

The data shows TOC and logging data form W-2 and W-4 well in the Lower Congo Basin. Source rocks usually refer to the rocks buried in the ground that can generate oil and gas, which mainly include coal measures strata, mudstones, carbonate rocks and so on. Due to the limited and discontinuous distribution of samples in the Madingo Formation in the lower Congo Basin, it is difficult to identify and characterize in detail the source rocks in the whole study area with only limited TOC data. Previous studies have shown that logging data contain a variety of geochemical information on source rocks According to logging data, only the TOC content of a single well can be predicted. Finally, the vertical distribution characteristics of TOC content in the study area can be predicted in order to provide data for further in-depth study on the evaluation of source rocks of Madingo formation in the Lower Congo Basin.
本数据集涵盖下刚果盆地W-2井与W-4井的总有机碳(Total Organic Carbon, TOC)数据及测井数据。源岩(Source Rocks)通常指地下赋存且可生成油气的岩石,主要包括煤系地层、泥岩、碳酸盐岩等。由于下刚果盆地马丁戈组(Madingo Formation)的样品分布有限且不连续,仅依靠有限的TOC数据难以对整个研究区的源岩进行精细识别与表征。已有研究表明,测井数据蕴含丰富的源岩地球化学信息,基于测井数据仅可实现单井TOC含量的预测。本研究最终实现研究区TOC含量垂向分布特征的预测,以期为下刚果盆地马丁戈组源岩评价的后续深入研究提供数据支撑。
