There is a wide difference in lumber properties between different Toona ciliata Roem. In order to explore the differences in lumber properties of Toona ciliata Roem, we performed comprehensive transcriptome and metabolome analysis on red and non-red Toona ciliata Roem wood cores to excavate differential metabolites and differential genes in them, and three differential genes were identified through combined transcriptome and metabolome analysis (Tci03G002560, Tci02G000070, Tci09G002190) were associated with two metabolites (coumestrol, pinocembrin), and further analysis revealed that some of these differential metabolites and genes were related to the lignin synthesis pathway, and through the determination of lignin content of red and non-red Toona ciliata Roem wood cores, the results showed that there was a significant difference in lignin between the two, which verified our conjecture, and preliminarily explored the effect of lignin on the Toona ciliata Roem wood This also verified our conjecture and initially explored the influence of lignin on Toona ciliata Roem, laying a solid foundation for subsequent preliminary research on the mechanism of Toona ciliata Roem wood formation.
