Transcriptome analysis of the spider Phonotimpus pennimani reveals novel toxin transcripts.

Phonotimpus pennimani is an endemic species from Mexico of a few millimeters (3-5 mm) that lives in cloud forests and habitats disturbed by cash crops (such as coffee). This species has no medical importance, and hence no genetic or venom composition information has been generated. However, the species is known to be important for the regulation of arthropod populations living in leaf litter.
